This innovative initiative is doing amazing work in the Cairns region, and for the past 12-months they’ve been running small group workshops, social events and even one-on-one business mentoring. Even if I may be a little biased (I’ve been a part of this amazing project for the past year), I know the dedication they have to encourage entrepreneurs of all ages to go after their dreams.
In fact, without having all the experience and knowledge I’ve gained from working there and meeting all the outstanding entrepreneurs who’ve come through the door, I probably wouldn’t have started Manexo Media.. Tara Diversi, the entrepreneur facilitator for Far North Queensland has a passion for entrepreneurship and constantly works to make Y(E)P a more inviting and collaborative project. Not to mention she has a tonne of value to provide in her one-on-one mentoring sessions, that are 100% free.
There are weekly free small group workshops, with some of the brightest leaders from around Cairns each week, as well as a monthly social event with a specific guest speaker. There are entrepreneur coffee mornings every Friday, and they always have new events popping up. If you’re new to the Cairns entrepreneurial scene, or just want to expand your knowledge, this is a great place to start.
TheSPACE is a community hub, for all things innovation and startups. They have a wide range of events, they regularly host, from their Power Hour’s to their Toastmaster sessions. The great thing about TheSPACE is that it’s an open co-working space, where anyone from seasoned business owners to new entrepreneurs can connect and brainstorm together. Additionally, they have select programs for entrepreneurs looking to take their business idea and commercialise it, which have helped numerous people get the start they need.

The Cairns Business Women’s Club began in the 1980’s, and has since expanded to host consistent networking lunches and events. It has also been the host of a range of business awards for the region. Don’t tune out if you’re a male either… The business networking lunches, which this group of inspiring women put on, are a great place to connect with entrepreneurs across Far North Queensland and enjoy great food. The club also hosts the annual CBWC Business Woman of the Year Awards, showing praise to businesswomen in the region leading the way.
Tip: Make your way to one of their lunches and meet some of the top business owners in Cairns.
Founded by Tony McInnes, this group is a great way to connect with other professionals on a more personal base. The group provides monthly meetings, where they connect, share ideas and are joined by a keynote speaker. Additionally, they provide a range of mentoring resources and training to help one another achieve their best. These guys are definitely worth checking out.
Tip: Head along to one of the F4BG Luncheon Meetings and enjoy an engaging keynote speech and networking.
